Please be on time as the train will not wait for us!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will walk from the LFS (dormitory) to the train station V\u00f6cklabruck, from where we will take the train (and rail replacement bus service) to Obersee:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>REX 3011, 08:50 V\u00f6cklabruck &#8212; Attnang-Puchheim 08:55<\/li>\n<li>R 3410, 09:07 Attnang-Puchheim &#8212; Gmunden 09:24<\/li>\n<li>BusSV170, 09:27 Gmunden &#8212; Bad Ischl 10:16<\/li>\n<li>R 3410, 10:20 Bad Ischl &#8212; Obersee O\u00d6 10:44 (in case of good weather) <strong>OR<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>R 3410, 10:20 Bad Ischl &#8212; Hallstatt 10:48 (in case of rain) <strong>OR<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>R 3410, 10:20 Bad Ischl &#8212; Obertraun 10:51 (for those who want to skip the hiking)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a very nice train route and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery from the windows, while having a nice talk with the other MEMO participants on the train.<\/p>\n<p><center>The next part of the program depends on the weather:<\/center><\/p>\n<div style=\"width:42%;float:left;padding:30px;margin-right:30px;border:solid 1px;\">\n<h2>In case of good weather:<\/h2>\n<h3>10:45 &#8212; 12:00: Hiking from Obersee to Obertraun<\/h3>\n<p>If the weather is good, we will hike along the Ostuferwanderweg (eastern lake shore hiking trail), which is 5km long and will take around 1.25 hours:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m26!1m12!1m3!1d18841.482931694936!2d13.651875881127257!3d47.57478427973404!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!4m11!3e2!4m3!3m2!1d47.5919062!2d13.6673742!4m5!1s0x4771363620935401%3A0x4964d1b55e786962!2sStrandbad+Obertraun%2C+Obertraun!3m2!1d47.5591455!2d13.6783682!5e1!3m2!1sen!2sat!4v1470600969753\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.math.aau.at\/MEMO2016\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Ostuferwanderweg.png\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.math.aau.at\/MEMO2016\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Ostuferwanderweg.png\" alt=\"Ostuferwanderweg\" width=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-436\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Most of the trail is a gravel path and quite easy to walk, though it does go up and down a bit.  <strong>Good shoes are recommended!<\/strong> (In particular, please don&#8217;t wear slippers, high heels or similar.)<\/p>\n<h3>12:00 &#8212; 13:30: Swimming in the lake<\/h3>\n<p>At water temperatures of around 19\u00b0C to 23\u00b0C you can swim in the Hallstatt lake. The <a href=\"http:\/\/dachstein.salzkammergut.at\/oesterreich\/poi\/200678\/freibadeanlage-strandbad-obertraun.html?h=1043\">Strandbad (lake shore swimming area)<\/a> offers a water slide, a beach volleyball court, and the entrance is free.<\/p>\n<p>For those who do not want to swim, there are two very nice caf\u00e9s near the lake that offer good coffee at very reasonable prices.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width:42%;float:left;padding:30px;border:solid 1px;\">\n<h2>In case of rain:<\/h2>\n<h3>10:45 &#8212; 11:15: Ferry to Hallstatt<\/h3>\n<p>If it is raining, we will first take the ferry from train station Hallstatt to the city of Hallstatt, which is on the other side of the Hallstatt lake (Ferry, 11:00 Hallstatt Bahnhst &#8212; Hallstatt Markt 11:08).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/u\/0\/embed?mid=1z4mpAJnJLsj3iRLALSoJUsU0rY0\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>11:15 &#8212; 13:00: Hallstatt<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hallstatt\">Hallstatt<\/a> is a picturesque town of around 1000 inhabitants that dates back to the iron age (1200 BC) and has always been an important place for salt mining. Some of the earliest archaeological evidence for the Celts was found in Hallstatt, and it gave its name to the Hallstatt culture. The museum, the salt mines, and the Dachstein Ice Cave are designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n<h3>13:00 &#8212; 13:30: Ferry to Obertraun<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The meeting point is at 13:00 at the ferry station. Please be on time as the ferry will not wait for us!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will take the ferry to Obertraun (Ferry, 13:15 Hallstatt Markt &#8212; Obertraun 13:28).\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br style=\"clear: left;\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>13:30 &#8212; 14:00: Walk to Bundessport- und Freizeitzentrum Obertraun<\/h3>\n<p>We will walk the last 2km from Obertraun ferry station \/ lake shore swimming area to the Bundessport- und Freizeitzentrum Obertraun where we will have lunch. The entire walk is along paved roads and gravel paths and entirely flat, and will take roughly 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/u\/0\/embed?mid=1aeaj5MSZQbN5fcVVf8aLWLeR88g\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>14:00 &#8212; 15:30: Lunch<\/h3>\n<p>We will have lunch in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.obertraun.bsfz.at\/\">Bundessport- und Freizeitzentrum Obertraun<\/a> (Austrian Sports Resorts Obertraun), where also some regional rounds of the Austrian Mathematical Olympiad take place each year.<\/p>\n<h3>15:30 &#8212; 18:00: Travel back to V\u00f6cklabruck<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The meeting point is at 15:30 in front of the Bundessport- und Freizeitzentrum.
