SUMIS and FG: A Novel Detection Technique for Coded Unique Word OFDM

In this talk we present a novel soft-output detection technique for a coded Unique Word OFDM system. The proposed algorithm is a modified version of the recently proposed subspace marginalization with interference suppression (SUMIS) algorithm. We replace the cumbersome marginal computation in the original SUMIS algorithm by an efficient implementation using factor graphs (FGs). The modified SUMIS algorithm has a low and deterministic complexity, yields good performance and is parallelizable. Its performance and complexity is compared to other detection methods (e.g. sphere detection, linear detection).
